Trama e commenti: davinotti.com - filmscoop.it - vampiri.net - ilcancello.com - exxagon.it: «Nel 1990 la Full Moon di Charles Band volò in Romania per girare Subspecies e, tanto che si era là, si decise di girare back-to-back due seguiti: questo Radu il principe delle tenebre e il terzo capitolo della saga vampiresca (Bloodlust). Come per il primo film della serie, anche questo sequel ha dalla sua l'ambientazione rumena, terra di origine del mito, il che è sicuramente un punto in più. Tuttavia la storia non si discosta dal raccontino melodrammatico di scontro fra vampiri su scala ristretta, nonostante si cerchi, e si riesca, a complicare il divenire degli eventi. Il film tuttavia è routinario nel presentare la natura del vampiro: la novella succhiasangue Michelle è prevedibilmente combattuta fra la sua natura vampiresca e il fatto che il nutrirsi implicherebbe uccidere qualcuno, Radu ha dei piani di amore eterno nei confronti di Michelle, la polizia non crede nel paranormale e quindi la coprotagonista dovrà impegnarsi da sola a sbrogliare la matassa, etc. L'idea del bloodstone, questa pietra che stilla sangue e nutre il vampiro senza bisogno che uccida, è comunque originale e interessante. Qualche effetto speciale interessante al di là dei soliti demonietti in stop-motion: la testa di Radu che viene riattaccata e, roba vecchio stile ma sempre d'impatto, l'ombra inquietante di Radu che si proietta sui muri delle case e del castello nel suo sinistro peregrinare fra le strade di città. La regia del rumeno Nicolau però non ha particolari guizzi e così il teatrino dei vampiri, nonostante l'interessante scenografia offerta da Bucarest, non colpisce nel segno. Il film, inoltre, ci perde nel cambio fra Laura Tate, che nel primo film vestiva i panni della protagonista, e la tremante Denice Duff. Scarsa la doppiatrice italiana di Melanie Shatner. Simpatico invece il tenente di polizia. Di bassa lega la soluzione finale che vole Radu ucciso e poi ancora risorto, realizzando una saga che non evolve a livello di soggetto, ma ripropone ad ogni puntata il solito scontro fra il vampiro cattivo e il malcapitato o malcapitata di turno. Ma è un prodotto Full Moon e non ci si aspettava molto di più».

Michelle flees to Bucharest with the Bloodstone, hoping to contact her sister, Becky, for help. Radu, with the help of his mother, "Mummy", sets out to find Michelle and the Bloodstone. Becky arrives in Romania and with the help of Lieutenant Marin, Professor Popescu, and US Embassy Agent Mel Thompson, attempts to find her sister. Radu eventually captures Michelle, who has been fighting her craving for blood since Radu took the Bloodstone. Mel and Lieutenant Marin do not believe Popescu and Becky, so the two of them go to a nearby crypt where they believe Michelle might be. Popescu is murdered by Mummy, while Becky is also captured and given to Michelle to feed from, as a way for Michelle to shed her mortal ties. Instead of killing her sister, Michelle stabs Radu in the face with an enchanted dagger, and sets fire to Radu's mother, who flees the room in flames. Becky and Michelle attempt to escape the catacomb, but Michelle is halted by the coming sunrise. Becky promises to return that evening, but as Michelle descends back into the tomb she is grabbed by Radu's mother and carried off».
