«As if Ridley Scott's medieval action drama
Robin Hood was not enough, a German
movie called Robin Hood - Ghosts of Sherwood is being planned for a
release later this year. Oliver Krekel directs what is possibly the first
horror-themed feature film about the hooded helper. While being part of legends
and mythology, Robin Hood is a character rooted in medieval reality and is not a
fantasy subject, even though movies about him usually have a look similar to
many fantasy movies inspired by the middle ages. Ridley Scott's movie this year,
Robin Hood, takes artistic liberties but is basically just another
historical epic. However, German director Oliver Krekel is currently preparing
Robin Hood - Ghosts of Sherwood, which is possibly the first feature film
to place the legend in a horror-fantasy setting. Oliver Krekel (who wrote the
story) kindly sent us the complete synopsis for the movie, which will be filmed
from a screenplay by Sean Lee. The logline "Robin Hood and his Merry Men are
concerned with only one thing, taking money from the rich and giving it to the
poor. That was until they died. Now they just want to kill everything in sight"
reveals some of the concept of the movie, which blends supernatural phenomena,
zombies and magic potions into the mix, which also contains familiar elements
such as an evil Sheriff of Nottingham, the relationship between Robin Hood and
Maid Marian, and action in the forests. The story promises thrills, nightly
ghosts and gory horror elements; in other words, a Robin Hood story outside the
normal. ...».
