I principali personaggi della serie sono: Fry (un fattorino del ventesimo secolo), Leela (un'aliena con un unico occhio), Bender (un robot che piega le cose) e il Professor Farnsworth (Il proprietario della Planet Express e pro pro pro... nipote di Fry). Tra gli altri personaggi c'è Amy (una ricca ragazza ingenua del 31° secolo), Hermes (un dipendente della Plante Express, burocrate e campione di limbo) e Zoidberg (un crostaceo di un altro pianeta dottore della Planet Express). Tutte le profezie fantascientifiche dei nostri anni si sono avverate: i robot popolano il pianeta quanto gli umani, hanno gli stessi vizi e debolezze, gli alieni hanno strane e svariate forme e caratteristiche, il traffico in città e nei cieli è caotico, il viaggio su un qualsiasi pianeta del sistema solare è ormai una gita fuori porta. Le teste ancora vive degli individui famosi e storici del secolo prima come Bill Clinton, Pamela Anderson e Spok, continuano a popolare la terra. Fry, il protagonista, dopo essere stato ibernato per 1000 anni, si trova a vivere nell'anno 3000 e dopo varie peripezie trova lavoro, assieme a Leela e Bender, come ragazzo delle consegne alla Planet Express del suo pro pro nipote Professor Farnsworth, scienziato "originale" che dice di avere 150 anni. Da qui inizia l'avventura, nel gruppo diventano tutti buoni amici e Fry incomincia ad accettare il futuro».

it.wikipedia.org: «Dopo una pericolosa missione, Fry, Leela e Bender si fermano ad un fast food intergalattico, ma il cibo ordinato da loro non soddisfa i gusti di Leela, che obbliga tutti ad andare ad un mercato biologico, dove acquistano, assieme ad altri alimenti, delle uova giganti da cucinare. Fry scopre che se quelle uova non vengono cucinate prima, si schiuderanno e daranno vita a qualche strana creatura, così decide di salvarne uno per impedire che lo mangino. Dopo un po' di tempo si schiude e ne esce una creatura blu che si fa subito notare perché spruzza acido che scioglie i piedi di Bender. La creatura, man mano che cresce, diventa sempre più grande e pericolosa. Il professore scopre che si tratta in realtà di una creatura che succhia lo scheletro dalle persone e dagli animali, chiamato Bonus Vampirus. Fortunatamente Fry lo ha cresciuto in modo vegetariano, ma decidono comunque di abbandonarlo sul suo pianeta natale e farlo riprodurre, visto che questa specie si riproduce in modo assessuato. Per la notte si rifugiano in un locale dove vengono a sapere che gli abitanti avevano ucciso le creature perché succhiava lo scheletro alle pecore, uccidendole. Astor, un contadino del posto, vuole ucciderlo ma Fry lo vuole fare al suo posto visto che lo ha cresciuto. Alla fine la creatura venne lasciata viva perché il bestiame esistente nel pianeta è ormai troppo e l'animale può riequilibrarne il numero».

Vampires had appeared, in cameo and on an in-episode film, during the episode I Dated a Robot but, being Futurama, when a vampire was the feature part of the episode it was not your average vampire, oh no. It begins with Leila (Katey Sagal), Fry (Billy West, Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island) and Bender (John DiMaggio Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust & Batman: the Brave and the Bold: Shadow of the Bat) running from a delivery, chased by a horde of axe flinging robots. Having escaped they go to a fast food fly-through but Leila decides she is unhappy with fast food and takes them to an organic market and buys eggs. The next day Fry realises that the eggs are fertile and refuses to eat one (until it hatches) and aims to incubate it by sitting on it. After a week of sitting duties he drops the egg, but the embryo has developed into a nasty looking, blue, acid-spitting creature that melts bender’s feet. Fry calls it Mr Peppy ... but as it grows there is a further incident with it “removing” Bender’s arm. Professor Farnsworth (also Billy West) has been doing some research however and has discovered that the creature is, in Latin, Bonus Vampiris or (for the non-Catholics) a Bone Vampire. Asexual, self-reproducing creatures they suck the bones from creatures. They are extinct on their own planet, Doohan 6, and so they have the idea to reintroduce Mr Peppy to the wild. Having done so, Bender detects alcohol and they find a local village and inn (with a rather distinctively, stereotypical Scottish vibe perfectly fitting for a planet named Doohan 6). When the locals discover that they have reintroduced the bone vampire there is shock; one of their number, Major Angus McZongo Esq (also Maurice LaMarche), had hunted the beasts to extinction as they had been a blight on their livestock. Fry argues that Mr Peppy is vegetarian but there is an attack on the livestock during the night… Which is as far as I will go though I will say there is a knowing Scooby-Doo element to the episode. All in all, it was great fun, with sharp writing and a soft-heart that doesn’t stray to saccharine. The voice acting was as good as you’d expect (there is a nice sub-story with bender annoying everyone with El Jerko cigars). All told a worthwhile addition to the alien vampire genre».
