I due possiedono poteri sovrannaturali: possono rendersi invisibili, rendere incorporee le auto su cui viaggiano e perfino cambiarne modello e colore; inoltre si possono trasformare in esseri mostruosi, metà umani e metà felini: proprio i gatti sono i soli a riconoscerli per ciò che sono in realtà, sempre pronti ad attaccarli, gli unici a riuscire a vederli quando si rendono invisibili e anche i nemici naturali delle misteriose creature; infatti i graffi inferti dai felini ai mutanti sono l'unica cosa che li può uccidere. Trasferitisi a Travis, Charles conosce Tanya Robertson, un'attraente liceale del posto. Charles la invita a fare un pic-nic in un vecchio cimitero, dove la ferisce e tenta di violentarla per potersi così cibare di lei. Dopo averlo ferito alla gola e ad un occhio con un cavatappi, la ragazza fugge da Charles e si ripara nell'automobile dell'agente Simpson, che Charles uccide mentre questo tenta di difendere la ragazza. Il gatto Clovis, amico e compagno abituale del poliziotto, attacca il ragazzo e lo graffia in volto sfigurandolo. Terrorizzata, Tanya chiama la polizia mentre Charles fugge verso casa moribondo. La madre, affamata e di quella linfa che le è necessaria, si reca a casa di Tanya e uccide i suoi genitori, prima di rapirla e condurla a casa sua per far nutrire Charles, in modo che guarisca dalle ferite causategli dallo scontro al cimitero e non muoia. Il cottage dove vivono sarà assediato da numerosi agenti di polizia, che però periranno tutti, uccisi dalla madre di Charles. Infine riescono a introdursi nella casa le moltitudini di gatti che si trovavano al di fuori del cottage attirati proprio dalle creature loro antagoniste e attaccano Mary, la madre di Charles, lacerando il suo corpo e facendolo finire in fiamme, mentre Charles, non essendo riuscito a nutrirsi muore per le ferite causategli dal felino. L'unica superstite sarà Tanya insieme al gatto Clovis».

Okay, the characters aren't vampires in the traditional sense, but in the movie's pre-sequence they quote that "some people believe that the sleepwalkers were the origin of the vampire myth". They have fangs (okay, a lot of film monsters do have them), they are shape shifting between monster and man and they kill their prey by sucking the life energy from them. Consider this: is the blood, which their more "traditional colleagues" suck, not just a synonym for life energy? Well... after all, it's a well done horror movie with at least some vampire-like characters, and it's good fun.
