Nel pilot scoprirà la verità grazie a Rubert Galvin, il suo padrino nonchè vecchio amico di famiglia, sulla morte del padre da lui mai conosciuto. Sua madre, non sapendo le vere modalità che causarono il decesso del marito raccontò a Luke che il padre scomparve in seguito ad un incidente sul lavoro. Luke all’inizio stenta a credere a ciò che gli racconta Galvin ma dopo aver avuto un incontro ravvicinato con dei “mostri” dove viene a conoscenza di questo mondo sovrannaturale anche la sua migliore amica Ruby, non avrà più alcun dubbio sulla sua missione: combattere i cattivi. Lo affiancheranno Rubert, Ruby e una ragazza non vedente con poteri fuori dal comune. Un altro punto importante del telefilm: Luke capirà di avere un’abilità fuori dal normale nei duelli…».

The plot follows the adventures of a London teenager Luke Rutherford, who learns that he is the last descendant of the Van Helsing line by the sudden arrival of his American godfather Rupert Galvin. Luke is charged with the role of smiting the gathering dark forces of the world whilst trying to live an ordinary life of exams and parties.
