Il primo è l’ultimo capitolo della serie dedicata all’eroina dei videogame Bloodrayne che, incredibilmente sopravvissuta alla fine della saga videoludica, tornerà a succhiare sangue sugli schermi e con Bloodrayne: Third Reich. La seconda, decisamente più interessante, è Blubberella, una super-eroina obesa e americana, che combatte vampiri nazisti durante la Seconda Guerra mondiale in Europa. Vista la tematica simile dei due titoli, viene il dubbio che Boll abbia cercato di ottimizzare tempi e riprese, girando i due film uno dietro l’altro o addirittura contemporaneamente, anche se in realtà non ci interessa molto saperlo, dopo tutto Boll non è Spielberg… Lindsay Hollister è perfetta nell’ingombrante parte di Blubberella...».

Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t fantastic (or even good necessarily) but there are worse films out there and worse directors. Until this… When Boll worked on the Blood Reich: Bloodrayne 3 he decided to shoot a ‘comedy’ film back to back with it, with mostly the same cast, mostly the same general plot but with Lindsay Hollister cast as Bubberella, a plus size dhampyr, rather than Natassia Malthe as Rayne. This is the result… How any of those involved could not have known what an offensive film they were making is beyond me and I hope that it was a dubious contract clause and not extra cash that kept them involved. Clearly there are fat jokes aplenty, as well as lots of puerile sex gags. There are also holocaust jokes, racist elements (including blacking up) and homophobic dialogue. One would hope that it was filmed with a deep-seated irony, attacking the very elements that it includes but, honestly, I just think it is one bad taste joke after another. Even worse, the bad taste jokes are not handled well by the cast who all manage to fail to deliver anything of comedic value».
