While The Vampire Lover was a sincere, if somewhat skittish, attempt at exploring the sexuality of female vampires, Lust for a Vampire, under the direction of Jimmy Sangster, collapses into mere silliness. Mircalla (Yutte Stensgaard) is a beautiful blonde vampire enrolled in an exclusive finishing school located on the grounds of Karnstein Castle, the former site of various black magic rituals. She roams the dorms by night, slyly seducing her fellow female students and sucking their blood. Barton (Ralph Bates), the school's headmaster, believes the girl is a vampire and confronts her with his suspicions. She succeeds in seducing him and drains him of his blood. A teacher, Lestrange (Michael Johnson), then falls in love with Mircalla, and this time she returns the emotion, but the townsfolk have had enough of her, and they storm the school, setting it ablaze. Whatever rich Gothic flavor this material may have had is totally destroyed by Sangster's annoying direction which relies heavily on leering zooms and garish color. To make matters worse, what should be highly-charged erotic scenes are ruined by deplorably bad songs droning away on the soundtrack...».
