Visto il successo che suscitò il fumetto della Marvel che vedeva protagonista la band l’anno precedente, Hanna e Barbera (già, proprio loro) contattarono il manager Bill Aucoin per sottoporre a lui e ai musicisti la sceneggiatura del film. La trama narra di uno scienziato pazzo, tale Abner Deveraux, che rapisce un addetto del suo parco divertimenti,il Magic mountain,e lo robotizza. Melissa, la sua fidanzata, disperata per la sparizione del ragazzo, non sa più dove sbattere la testa: la polizia non le crede e tutti le dicono che é pazza. A questo punto i Kiss, giunti al parco per un concerto,ma dotati di superpoteri, aiutano la ragazza a ritrovare lo scomparso boyfriend. Deveraux imprigiona i quattro musicisti, li sostituisce con automi che salgono sul palco al loro posto per aizzare la folla alla ditsruzione. Il mad scientist vuole così screditare e distruggere pubblicamente i Kiss per perseguire i suoi folli piani ma nel finale la band riesce a liberarsi e dopo una strenua lotta con i loro doppelganger malvagi,trionfano suonando davanti ai fans in delirio. Il lungometraggio,proiettato dalla NBC la notte di Halloween, fu uno dei più visti dell’anno negli States. Ciò nonostante la pellicola é entrata nel novero del trash cinematografico mondiale. ...».

The plot, reminiscent of the average episode of Scooby-Doo, begins with crazed inventor Abner Devereaux (Anthony Zerbe) getting fired from his job at California's Magic Mountain amusement park for ignoring safety standards in his quest to create bigger and better attractions. Devereaux retreats to his underground lab and plots a revenge scenario that coincides with the arrival of rock group Kiss (playing themselves) to perform a concert at the park. Using his knowledge of animatronics, Devereaux creates android duplicates of Kiss and uses them to create havoc. However, he soon discovers he's in for a fight because the group has secret talisman amulets that give them special powers. Thus, the stage is set for a superhero-style showdown between Kiss and Devereaux's squad of animatronic henchmen. Although it is a live-action effort, Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park is cartoonish in the extreme as it dishes out plenty of bad jokes and low-budget special effects.
