Gli abitanti di Herot piangono la morte del loro Re Halga. Suo figlio, il guerrafondaio Wulfric, non possiede la saggezza necessaria per guidare il suo popolo, ma è anche fortemente scettico che suo zio Rothgar, che è stato incoronato Re, possa essere adatto per far fronte alla violenza dei tempi. Dal relitto vediamo uscire un uomo proveniente da un altro mondo: è Kainan, un guerriero umanoide, e non è solo. A sua insaputa ha portato con sé un pericoloso clandestino, il Moorwen, una creatura selvaggia pronta a tutto pur di vendicarsi per quello che l’esercito di Kainan gli ha fatto. Abbandonato su un pianeta a lui alieno, in una terra in ritardo di secoli rispetto alla sua civiltà, Kainan si prepara a scovare e a distruggere la sua nemesi. Ma prima che possa riuscire nel suo intento, Kainan viene catturato dai Vichinghi. Kainan salva la vita a Re Rothgar e per questa ragione, anche se con riluttanza, viene accettato all’interno del clan. Kainan si confida con Freya, la bellissima figlia di Rothgar, le racconta del suo passato, di come le sue azioni gli siano costate la sua famiglia ed abbiano fatto infuriare il Moorwen. La bestia assetata di vendetta assedia la roccaforte Vichinga, e qui si rivela in tutto il suo terrificante splendore. Il mostro viene intrappolato e dato alle fiamme, a stento riesce a fuggire nella foresta, lasciando dietro di sé Re Rothgar ferito a morte. Wulfric viene dichiarato suo successore, ma le celebrazioni per la sua incoronazione vengono interrotte dal Moorwen, che torna e rapisce Freya. I Vichinghi, capeggiati da Kainan, affrontano la loro ultima, disperata missione: riusciranno a sterminare il mostro? Oppure andranno incontro alla loro distruzione? Così come la polvere della storia del Villaggio di Herot comincia a depositarsi, la fiaba di Kainan diviene leggenda».

The ship lands in Norway in the time of the Vikings, 709 A.D. From the wreckage emerges a soldier from another world – Kainan – who hunts a bloodthirsty creature known as the Moorwen. Man and monster both seek revenge for violence committed against them. As the Moorwen ravages the Viking world, killing everything in its path, Kainan forms an alliance with the primitive but fierce warriors. Whilst trying to hunt for the Moorwen, war brews among the Vikings, which ends with both sides taking immense losses. As the enemy Vikings retreat into the forests, the Moorwen strikes, leaving the vikings no choice but to run for help to their once close enemies.
