Trama e commenti: eprints.unife.it - visualstudies.it: «...Con Boudica (Warrior Queen), un film del 2003 ambientato all’epoca della conquista romana della Britannia, si torna allo stereotipo di Agrippina madre incestuosa, ma visualizzandolo in maniera molto cruda, come mai prima sullo schermo. Al suo primo apparire saluta il figlio con un French kiss, e subito dopo, per calmare la smania del giovane impaziente di prendere il potere, si accoppia a lui con foga selvaggia, e senza nulla lasciare all’immaginazione (Fig. 9). Poi perpetra l’omicidio del marito (ma niente funghi!) con assoluta freddezza sotto gli occhi del figlio e dei cortigiani. Nerone, finalmente imperatore, riprende la guerra contro i Britanni, con maggior determinazione del defunto Claudio, ma sottovalutando la resistenza guidata dalla regina degli Iceni. Le cose vanno male per Roma, e Agrippina commenta sarcastica: “This is what happens when boys stop listening to their mothers”. Ma poco dopo stramazza al suolo, e realizza con orrore di essere stata avvelenata dal figlio. Questi, passando sul suo cadavere, esclama: “Peace at last!”. La scena ha indubbiamente una sua efficacia drammatica. Peccato che nella realtà storica le cose siano avvenute in modo molto diverso, e anche in tempi diversi (Agrippina fu fatta uccidere da Nerone nel 59 d.C.)...».
