Plot Summary, Synopsis, Review: IMDb - films.pierre-marteau.com - movie-time.it: «The young count Folengo, called "captain Vessillo", is summoned to Venice by his uncle, the Great Inquisitor, who wants him to marry the daughter of a rich banker. He goes to visit the girl but falls in love with a friend of hers, Bianca, who has learnt just a few days before that she is the daughter of Marco Spada who is in jail accused of having murdered his wife. But Marco is innocent: fifteen years earlier he had helped a traveller wounded by a bandit. But the bandit had entered Marco's house at night, killed his wife and stolen the documents and jewels of the murdered traveller whose name was Zaccaria Folengo. Under this name, the bandit managed to be appointed Great Inquisitor. Together with Bianca, captain Vessillo starts to look for and eventually finds evidence of the guilt of the murdering bandit. With the help of a stratagem, the Great Inquisitor is unmasked and then beheaded. Marco Spada regains his freedom and captain Vessillo can finally marry Bianca».
